Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Werth focuses on the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems including the connective tissues between them. Common issues include low back and neck pain, headache, disc bulge and herniation, sciatica, various forms of arthritis, widespread pain/fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, and extremity pain (shoulder, hand, hip, knee, ankle, etc.). This is not an exhaustive list, so call if you have any questions!

You do not. Chiropractors are direct-access providers. If you are referred by another doctor, kindly share this with us and we will incorporate them in your care, as appropriate.

We are in-network if you have:

  • Aetna (including Meritain)
  • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO (not HealthKeepers/HealthKeepers Plus)
  • Sentara Health* (not Medicare)
  • Cigna
  • Medicare Part B*
  • Sana Benefits
  • VA Community Care Network

If any of these payors pertain to you, please provide the necessary information on our intake form.

*Medicare Part B and Sentara Medicaid cover adjustments/manipulation of the spine for active conditions necessitating treatment. Evaluation, physical therapies, dry needling, and maintenance care provided by a chiropractor are not currently covered by these payors.

Being out-of-network means we give you the task of working with your insurance company to cover all or part of your chiropractic care after paying in full for our services after your visit. You will take a receipt (a.k.a. superbill) to your insurance company for coverage and we are glad to assist you in any way we can. In many cases we can submit this superbill on your behalf but please clarify this intention with us at the time of service.

If services are not covered and we are in-network with your insurance (as is the case with some Medicare and Medicaid claims), the insured is responsible for covering the cost of the services at our self-pay rate.

A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the clinician’s day that could have been filled by another patient. We require a 12-hour notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than a 12-hour notice or miss their appointment will be charged a cancellation fee.
Legal DNA paternity testing (also known as chain-of-custody testing) provides results that may be used as proof of a biological relationship for child support, custody, immigration, birth certification, Social Security, or other legal reasons in a court of law or similar setting.

The test includes the alleged father and the child or children plus mother or grandparent(s). It is highly recommended that the mother of the child be included in the test whenever possible in order to strengthen the results.

For a test to be legally binding, a non-interested party (us) needs to collect a saliva sample, fingerprint, and picture. Each adult participant must provide a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID. For children under the age of 18, a parent, guardian, or conservator must sign for the child.
